Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of The Grant— a judgment-training simulation game operated by Directorate Z LLC (“Directorate Z,” “we,” “us,” “our”) — including the mobile apps (iOS/Android), the web app at app.playthegrant.com, and the marketing site atplaythegrant.com (together, the “Service”).

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. OurPrivacy Policy explains how we handle personal data, and our standalone Disclaimerelaborates on the simulation/not-financial-advice framing in Section 2; both are incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service — a simulation, not financial advice

The Grant is a simulation game that trains market judgment using entirely synthetic charts. For the avoidance of doubt:

• The Service is not financial, investment, trading, or professional advice of any kind.
• The Service is not a trading platform, and Directorate Z is not a broker, dealer, investment adviser, or financial institution.
• The Service does not provide signals, picks, or recommendations about any real security, asset, or market.
• The Service does not execute trades and involves no real markets, real accounts, or real money.
• Charts, scenarios, and outcomes in the game are synthetic and do not represent any real instrument or market event.

Performance in the game — including your scores, ratings, and Judgment Graph — measures decision process, not real-world profit, and does not predict real-world trading or investment results. Process > profit. Nothing in the Service should be relied upon for any financial decision; consult a qualified professional for financial advice. See also Section 8 (Disclaimers) and the standalone Disclaimer.

3. Eligibility and age

You must be at least 16 years old (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you are legally able to enter into these Terms.

4. Accounts and authentication

• You may play anonymously with a device-scoped local profile, or sign in to save progress across devices.
• Supported sign-in methods: email magic-link, email + password, Sign in with Apple, and Sign in with Google. For OAuth sign-in, our servers verify the provider’s ID token; Apple may supply a private-relay email. If a verified email from an OAuth provider matches an existing account, the identity is linked to that same account.
• You may choose an optional display handle. It must not be your real name, and it must not impersonate others or be offensive or misleading.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and email, and for all activity under your account. Notify us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
• You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

5. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, probe, or otherwise attempt to extract or replicate the Service’s scoring engine, simulation engine, algorithms, or non-public data, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
• Cheat, exploit bugs, automate play, or manipulate scores, ratings, or the Judgment Graph;
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its infrastructure, or other users;
• Access the Service by any means other than the interfaces we provide;
• Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation, or to infringe anyone’s rights;
• Misrepresent the Service or your game results as real trading performance or financial advice.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms (Section 12).

6. Intellectual property

The Service — including the app, the simulation and scoring engine, the Judgment Graph methodology, synthetic chart content, designs, text, graphics, and branding — is owned by Directorate Z LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose under these Terms.

You retain any rights you have in the content and inputs you provide (such as your display handle). You grant us a non-exclusive license to use your inputs as needed to operate and improve the Service. Except for the limited license above, no rights in the Service are transferred to you.

7. Third-party services

Sign-in via Apple or Google is subject to those providers’ terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.

8. Disclaimers; “as is”

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,”WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WITHOUT LIMITING SECTION 2, WE MAKE NO WARRANTY THAT USE OF THE SERVICE WILL IMPROVE ANY REAL-WORLD TRADING OR INVESTMENT OUTCOME, AND NOTHING IN THE SERVICE CONSTITUTES FINANCIAL ADVICE. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DIRECTORATE Z LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR — FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT — ANY FINANCIAL OR TRADING LOSSES OF ANY KIND, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE AND (B) USD $100. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including certain rights of consumers in the EU/EEA and UK.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes shall be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or UK, you retain any mandatory protections and forum rights granted by the laws of your country of residence.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to updated Terms, stop using the Service and, if applicable, delete your account.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service or request account deletion at any time (contact[email protected] or use in-app options where available). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 2, 6, 8, 9, and 10) survive.

13. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy andDisclaimer, are the entire agreement between you and Directorate Z regarding the Service. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a corporate transaction.
